Spectacular weather, fantastic organisation and an awesome group of participants made for another memorable Dave Wilson Kahuna. In the words of Dave Wilson’s wife Yvonne it truly celebrated Dave Wilson’s “life philosophies of fun, friendship and participation” and honoured Dave’s considerable contribution to our Club. David was awarded Life Membership in 2011 and was actively involved in patrolling, training, assessing and competing at the Masters level. He was also an Age Group Manager for Nippers and served as the Club’s lifeguard liaison officer. Dave encouraged and inspired members to become involved and active in our Club.

Saturday’s Kahuna saw club members of all different ages and abilities participating, having fun, encouraging  each other and everyone was a winner.  Some friendly rivalry between certain members was noticed (Pam and Mike Bubrzyckibattled it out with a sprint to the finishing line). Thanks to Events Manager Julie Rapley for her fantastic organisational skills. Thanks also to Neil Forbes and Jeff Baker for their assistance with beach setup and pack up and patience with the course briefing. Many thanks to Cameron Rapley, Ryan Stacey, Emmet Grimes, Rochelle Villemin, and Aimee Honorfor setting up the water arenas and IRB water safety. Thanks also to Craig Blake and Rick Stephenson for providing surf ski based water safety. Thanks to Kev Fettes and the awesome Kirra Patrol for covering First Aid. Finally, thanks to the wonderful Alison Gerrard and Ali Baker for registering competitors and ensuring that all returned safely.
